The Rev’d Jean-Jacques Goulet

Jean-Jacques brings years of experience as a Mennonite pastor and in community based ministries to work at the Cathedral where he coordinates the pastoral care of parishioners and those in need. He is also involved in the French ministry in the congregation and leads the bi-weekly bible study, Pain, Partage, Prières.

Jean-Jacques was raised in Montréal as a Roman Catholic. He graduated from St. Jerome’s College of the University of Waterloo with a BA in Religious Studies in 1982. He later graduated with an M.Div. from Waterloo Lutheran Seminary in 1990.

After a few years of spiritually wondering in his early twenties, he came back to the Christian faith in the Mennonite Church where he was eventually ordained. He pastored in congregations in Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec and also served as Director of Evangelism and Church Planting for Mennonite Church Canada.
Jean-Jacques sees himself as an example of ecumenism having been part of these three Christian traditions. The thread that ties his spiritual journey is his deep love of Christ and his desire to help people experience the love of God. He recognizes that it is in experiencing that Love that we are motivated to build God’s kingdom.
He has made the Cathedral his spiritual home since 2011 and has served as the pastoral assistant since 2014. He was ordained a deacon on Pentecost, May 2015.  He is a member of Episkope.

He is father of two adult children, André and Dora-Marie, and the proud grandfather of Elfrieda.
