Excellent, thoughtful preaching is a hallmark of the Cathedral’s liturgical life.

We believe very strongly in the word of God as dynamic and engaging—a word meant to transform us in profound ways. Reading sermons, praying or meditating with them, sharing and talking about them can all be ways of deepening your faith.

The Cathedral’s preachers include its regular clergy and also lay people and occasional visitors. Here, you will find links to sermons preached throughout the liturgical year. You can read texts of sermons, listen to them, or do both at once.

A few years ago, I went on pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where – with a group of 16 pilgrims – we travelled in the footsteps of Jesus, visiting places where he was born, grew up, lived and exercised his earthly ministry.  In the course of our journey, we followed his path towards his passion, […]

An active silence

Yesterday, the Cathedral held a quiet day in the beautiful countryside surrounding  Brigham, in the Eastern Townships.  The setting could not have been more perfect.  Beautiful land, covered in pristine snow, a big sky at its best blue, a blazing sun shining the love of God throughout the day, and a beautifully converted barn, loaned […]

Open to God’s Work

God dwelling with us

Today, we conclude the church’s season of Epiphany—the revelation of God’s light among us in the person of Jesus Christ—with the feast of the Presentation in the Temple. This is the final episode in the Church year linked to Christmas.   Conveniently, this feast on February 2 coincides with Groundhog Day. Both mark the time […]

Living in Dangerous Times

HOMILY—25th AFTER TRINITY—Living in Dangerous Times          In the name of the one, holy and undivided Trinity: Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer.  Amen.          If you’re at all like me, watching the nightly news has become spiritually risky business.  I say that because, not only does so much of what I see and hear so […]
