Cathedral Choir

Christ Church Cathedral Choir is one of Canada’s leading and busiest liturgical choirs, supporting the busy and varied schedule of cathedral and diocesan services throughout the year. The choir can regularly be heard at our 10:30am Sung Eucharist and 4:00pm Choral Evensong, alongside a host of special and additional services for major feasts. In an average year the choir will perform some 500 pieces of music, spanning the breadth and wealth of Christian music, representing the diversity both of our members, our congregation, and Anglicanism in the 21st Century. You can find out more about this month’s music here.

The music department is headed by Dr Jonathan White, a native of the UK who studied at the University of Oxford and Yale University before coming to Christ Church in 2019. He is assisted by Nicholas Capozzoli, a recent prize winner at the Canadian International Organ Competition and widely recognised as one of his generation’s leading organists, and Ethan Hill, our organ scholar.

Our choir comprises a core of dedicated volunteer singers, many of whom sing at a semi-professional level, and paid section leaders who provide mentorship and support. You can hear the Cathedral Choir live, every Sunday, at 4pm (ET) for our broadcast service of Choral Evensong on Radio Ville Marie.
