The Patrick Wedd Music Fund honours the work and legacy of Patrick Wedd, Director of Music at the Cathedral from 1996 to 2018. Patrick was a prodigious organist, sensitive conductor, and generous teacher. His infectious passion for music attracted the very best organists and singers in Montreal. In fact, many of Patrick’s former students have become eminent organists, conductors, and teachers throughout the world. We are dedicated to continuing Patrick’s mission, namely by encouraging young musicians and commissioning composers to write new music. You can support our efforts by donating through the form below. You will receive an immediate charity tax receipt for your gift.
The Patrick Wedd Choral Scholarships will give university students hands-on experience with the Anglican choral tradition while at the same time introducing them to our beliefs and wider community. As financial aid to their studies, this scholarship is tailored to the individual goals, strengths, and time commitment of each singer. Students will join the Cathedral Choir throughout the year and will be given opportunities for solo and/or small ensemble singing. Through additional one-on-one sessions with the Director of Music, singers will learn practical skills necessary for a career in choral and church music. Your donation to the Patrick Wedd Music Fund ensures the growth and continuity of this vital initiative. Contact the Director of Music to learn more.

"I quickly discovered a whole wealth of repertoire both old and very new, as a choir member, Organ Scholar, and then in 2007, as Assistant Organist. Patrick guided me, rejoiced with me, and commiserated with me at every turn in my career."
Donald Hunt, Director of Music, Christ Church Cathedral, Victoria
