Join us (in-person) as we commemorate Ash Wednesday.
For Christians, Ash Wednesday is a solemn day on which we remember that we are human and remember that we are going to die some day. It is a day of prayer, when we acknowledge the situations where we have failed to love God, love one another, and love the planet. In this acknowledgement, we ask God to help us to grow in love.
During this time of worship, we will receive ashes in the shape of the cross on our foreheads, reminding us that God made us from the dust, and someday we will return to the dust. We will also hear readings from the Bible, pray for ourselves and the world around us, sing hymns, and receive the Eucharist.
The service at 12:15 will have organ music. There will also be a service at 7:30 p.m. with organ music and a choir. Ashes will also be available without the Eucharist at the 9:15 a.m. Morning Prayer service (not livestreamed) and the 5:15 p.m. Taizé service (not livestreamed).
