We believe that the Holy Spirit is active in the lives and voices of all people and that authority in the Church is grounded in baptism. Members of the congregation and clergy share this authority and make important decisions for the life of the Cathedral together. Decisions which involve other Anglican churches in Montreal or Canada are made in Synod – a sort of church parliament of elected lay people and clergy.
The Anglican Church is ‘synodically governed and episcopally led.’ This means that decisions are taken democratically and at the same time Anglicans always look to their bishops for guidance and as a focus of unity.
