On the 4th Sunday of Lent, Dean Bertrand led us through a very moving meditative visualization of the Earth, in all its beauty and it woundedness. He invited us to pray for our planet, and also to become actively involved in its healing, through advocacy and through direct action, as we are able.
Advocacy, of course, means speaking truth to power, if only by signing a petition with a click of the mouse. But it is particularly sweet when we are able to get power to speak truth to itself. There is an inspirational saying that “a friend is someone who knows the song of your heart and sings it back to you when you have forgotten the words.” I think we touched a chord in the Honorable Marc Garneau’s heart when, in a recent meeting, we asked him to revisit one of his journeys, through his own photographs and his own words.
