Ecojustice Calendar for the Third Week of Lent: March 7 – 13

“A Lent like no other.”  This how my friend the Rev Doctor Alexandra Caverly-Lowery described the Earth-based soul-searching that has characterised Lent 2021.  She was speaking not just in her own parish, but of churches of all denominations across the country, as the For the Love of Creation initiative begins to gain momentum.  More and more people are coming the see reconciliation with the indigenous peoples and with the Earth they have protected for so long not only as a matter of survival, not only as a justice issue, but also as an integral part of our spiritual journey.  This not only an Anglican, or even a Christian, awakening, but something that is stirring within all the world’s faith traditions, and all continents. This coming week Canada’s For the Love of Creation initiative is participating in an international, interfaith day for climate action, entitled “Sacred People, Sacred Earth.”, by sponsoring a letter writing event from 11 AM until noon.  The link will be posted here later in the week.  In the meantime, on this Third Sunday in Lent, we are invited to pray with our Jewish brothers and sisters for the will and the power to care for our wounded planet.
