Our Muslim sisters and brothers are halfway through their Ramadan observance now.

This movable feast doesn’t always fall during summertime, but fasting from before sunrise to after sunset is obviously most difficult this time of year in our latitude because the nights are so short.

As a spiritual practice this week, you might wish to join in spirit or in some kind of practice with them.  The goal is to free the believer from any kind of attachment to material things and to lead the community to stand in solidarity—in spirit and in charitable action—with those who regularly live in want.
