Lent is a season of preparation and reflection as we prepare to once again receive the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is a time for acknowledging our human frailty and our deep need for the constant presence of God. It is a time for focusing our attention on the things that matter: love, generousity, compassion, forgiveness, hope. The traditional Lenten practices of fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are all ways to keep our concentration where it belongs in a world that is full of distractions.
This year, you are invited to join us in a shared fasting experience as we reflect on our use (or abuse) of creation by participating in a Carbon Fast. Our community-built calendar offers a suggested activity for each day in Lent to help you increase in awareness and reduce your carbon footprint. The calendar includes suggestions for giving money or goods to individuals and organizations that can make good use of them.
