We celebrate the Feast of Christ the King this weekend, starting with the parish supper on Saturday in Fulford Hall (5:30 for 6 pm) and continuing with a joyful service of thanksgiving on Sunday at 10 am.
There are many wonderful services coming up in the next few weeks, beginning with the Advent Carol Service on November 30th.
There are also two special services: first, the World Aids Day service on Saturday, November 29 at midday with Canon William Blizzard officiating and Paul preaching. and two weeks later the Memorial Service for the Victims of Violence on Saturday December 6 at 12:15 pm. Shirley Smith will be the officiant and Joyce Sanchez the homelist..
In addition the Cathedral will continue to celebrate 3 services every weekday. If you’ve not yet been to a sung evensong on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday or to one of the midday Eucharists presided over by some of the Diocesan clergy as well as our own priests, you might like to try out one of these services next time you’re downtown. Adding to the Cathedral’s rich spiritual offerings there is now a meditation session after Evensong every Tuesday led by Beth, Vivian or Paul.
There are other events happening during Advent, featuring poets and pilgrims, a bake sale and a Fair Trade Christmas Boutique. The bake sale will take place on Sunday, December 14th to raise funds for the Social Service Christmas baskets. Contact Irene Broitman or Janet King if you would like to help with the baking.
“Dix Mille Villages Fair Trade Christmas Boutique” is being organised by Dix Mille Villages and hosted by the Cathedral from Thursday 27th November to Saturday the 29th, 11am – 5pm, and Sunday 30th November 11am – 3pm, in the Atrium (behind the Cathedral), 1444 Union Ave.
Jonathan writes: Thank you for your support of fair trade activities at Christ Church Cathedral – it’s wonderful to know that we are now in the 3rd year of a successful partnership with the Ten Thousand Villages/Dix Mille Villages store on St Denis!
Please come along and do your gift shopping at the Boutique. To help with the Fair Trade Boutique and to raise awareness about fair trade issues please contact Opal at montreal.stdenis@villages.ca
